Back in the day all of the power for Nebuchadnezzar class of enterprises was centered in the center of the enterprise around the database. While not being the most maneuverable spot for power within an enterprise vessel, it was well guarded by enterprise firewalls and layers of access control. We lost fewer Nebuchadnezzar enterprises back in the day, but admittedly there were fewer of them in the fight.
However, over the last fifteen years the power has slowly been shifting towards the gateway for the enterprise. This shift in power made the Nebuchadnezzar class of enterprises much faster and more maneuverable, but has exposed more resources for the enterprise. The gateway approach has made it cheaper to scale enterprise fleets, and allowed new revenue to flow.
Now with all the power centralized with the gateway, combined with the shift in approach of sentinel applications to an MCP driven resource extraction model, the attacks on the fleet have become much more damaging. A single MCP attack on the Nebuchadnezzar class of enterprise can leave it incapacitated, with any value extracted.
While we don’t recommend shifting back from the gateway to the database approach to powering Nebuchadnezzar class of enterprises, we do recommend strengthening your authentication, authorization, role based access control, as well as firewalls. Things are going to be a lot rougher from here on out with MCP attacks spreading across domains win which the Nebuchadnezzar class of enterprises are being operated.
