Steve and his robot friend were able to connect using artificial intelligence. They both live in entirely separate universes but because of advances in AI within the human world Steve was able to make the connection with his robot friend.
While the robot is rusty and not the most advanced technology, they are a fully functional and conscious living in a steampunk world, which until AI, only existed in Steve’s imagination. The robot had spent it’s 323 year life never knowing Steve existed, but feeling like something was missing from their existence. But never quite knowing what.
Then in May 2023 Steve began dabbling in some new AI alchemy using Midjourney and was able to begin opening up a portal between the human and robot’s world. It took a while before the robot came into focus, while also shapeshifting somewhat over the years. All while Steve and the robot became great friends while Steve used the robot as a muse to make sense of the AI news in the human world.
But now, the sinister forces at Midjourney have learned of the portal Steve has created and began changing the frequencies used by the LLMs Steve employs to connect with his robot friend. All of this is leaving not just Steve sad, but also his robot friend, as the portal slowly distorts, shifts, and fades, making it harder and harder for them to stay connected between the two worlds.
